HRC: August 31, 2021

Call to Order

A Home Run Club meeting for Piedmont Baseball was held on August 31, 2021, via Zoom and was presided over by Coach Skokowski. 

Attendees: Tiffany Bo, Corey Coleman, Cindy Proctor, Amber Smith, Angela Bilyeu, Christen Hannegan, Jason Boesch, Jill Hill, John Riggs, Kourtney Aller, Patrick Cameron, Racheal Migl, Steve Kennedy, Tara, Julie Lindley, J Boice, Lisa Riggs, Whitney Hayes

Announcements

  • 40 kids practicing with baseball. 17 in other sports.
  • Construction on the new field is ongoing.
    • There is a sink hole. It’s an engineering issue. Trying to get softball done first.
  • Practice – Players will be required to wear turfs during practice.  Turfs will be provided by Booster Club fund for every player.
  • Mr. Boice is donating shirts, each player will get 2 shirts.  Will also be doing the artwork for free on the shorts.  Will be purchasing shorts for the players out of Booster Club fund.  If not a shorts day, will need white pants for practice. 
  • In the process of ordering first set of hats for the high school players.  BSN is taking a lot longer on hats.
  • Founder’s Day –
    • September 11th
    • Will have a booth selling shirts and old hats. 
    • Need volunteers to work booth. 
    • Boys pass out free water.
  • No traveling out of state.
  • The website will have links with schedules.

Account Activity

  • Close to $9,000.

Fundraisers

  • Blue and Gold Fundraiser –
    • starting soon / will order by Nov 1st / will get the 2nd week of November
    • Money turned in by Oct 29th  
  • Email Fundraiser – Starts in January – goes for 21 days
  • Advertisement signs
    • Will be doing video board ads instead of fence signs.
  • Home Run Club Memberships
    • $100 family = 2 shirts, 2 season passes
  • Spirit Wear
  • Volunteers
    • Concession Stand
      • Snow will not be working at the high school field, only the middle school field.
    • Press Box
  • Goals = Everyone participates and tries their best to raise funds for our guys.

Baseball Events for the School Year

  • Middle School tryouts = January
  • Senior Night = April 28th
  • Spring Break Off Days (V=3/12-3/16, B=3/12-3/16, G=3/13-3/17)
  • Spring Break Practice (V=Morning of 3/18, B=3/18, G=3/19)
  • Hosting Tournaments (V=3/31-4/2, B=3/24-3/26, G=3/10-3/12, JH=4/7-4/9)
  • Banquet – TBD

Additional Information

  • Summer balances owed = $650, please take care of any balance you owe ASAP

Chain of Command

  • Playing time, Practice Questions – player needs to talk to Coach prior to parents talking to Coach
  • Issue with Coach – go to that Coach first, Skow would be next if needed, next AD Mr. Bilyeu, next Superintendent, next School Board

Questions

  • Can we use our field for summer tournaments to raise money? 
    • Will have to check with the school and get it approved.
  • Will there be hitting cages at the new field?
    • They are not built into the Bond but the school will be adding them.  It will be after the fields are completed.
