Game 1 versus Coweta

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats snatched the lead late in the game in a 3-1 victory over Coweta Tigers Varsity on Saturday.  The game was tied at one with Piedmont Varsity Wildcats batting in the top of the sixth when Weston Thomas singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Piedmont Varsity Wildcats pitchers struck out eight, while Coweta Tigers Varsity pitchers sat down six.

Coweta Tigers Varsity got things moving in the first inning.  Coweta Tigers Varsity scored one run when Arnett singled.

Dalton Hampton led the Piedmont Varsity Wildcats to victory on the mound. The righty went four innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out five, and walking one.

Taylor took the loss for Coweta Tigers Varsity. Taylor lasted six innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out five and walking zero.

Thomas started the game for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. Thomas went three innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out three

Game 2 versus Collinsville

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats fell 8-2 to Collinsville Varsity Cardinals on Saturday despite out-hitting them six to four.

The Piedmont Varsity Wildcats struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Collinsville Varsity Cardinals, giving up eight runs.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats got things started in the first inning.  Dax Priddy grounded out, scoring one run.

In the top of the second inning, Collinsville Varsity Cardinals tied things up at two.  Owen Eubanks drew a walk, scoring one run.

Collinsville Varsity Cardinals pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning.  In the third Kaden Rush singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Collinsville Varsity Cardinals scored three runs in the sixth inning.  Collinsville Varsity Cardinals’ big bats were led by Landon Bunch and Braden Keith, all driving in runs in the frame.

Seth Wright earned the win for Collinsville Varsity Cardinals. The pitcher allowed six hits and one run over six and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking one.

Jordan Askren took the loss for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. The hurler allowed three hits and five runs over two and third innings, striking out two.

Priddy went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Piedmont Varsity Wildcats in hits.

Collinsville Varsity Cardinals didn’t commit a single error in the field. Colton Hollenbeck had the most chances in the field with eight.
