Piedmont Varsity Wildcats fell to Elk City Elks 8-7 on Friday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at seven with Elk City Elks batting in the bottom of the ninth when an error scored one run for Elk City Elks.
Despite the loss, Piedmont Varsity Wildcats did collect 13 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Elk City Elks had ten hits on the way to victory.
Piedmont Varsity Wildcats opened up an early lead in the second inning when Cole Riggs singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Elk City Elks tied things up at seven. Elk City Elks scored one run when Boyd singled.

#19 earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Elk City Elks. The bulldog lasted two and third innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out three. #17 and Culves entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Ethan Nawaz took the loss for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. Nawaz surrendered two runs on two hits over two and two-thirds innings, walking one.
Church started the game for Elk City Elks. The fireballer went four innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, striking out five and walking one Jordan Askren started the game for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. The hurler lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out four and walking one
Piedmont Varsity Wildcats totaled 13 hits in the game. Riggs, Weston Thomas, Dalton Hampton, Dax Priddy, and Logan Hill each collected multiple hits for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. Riggs went 4-for-6 at the plate to lead Piedmont Varsity Wildcats in hits.
