Wildcats Drop Game 2 to Antlers

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats lost the lead late in an 8-3 defeat to Deer Creek Antlers Varsity on Thursday.  The game was tied at three with Deer Creek Antlers Varsity batting in the top of the fifth when Brady Hamilton singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats got things moving in the first inning.  Jordan Askren drew a walk, scoring one run.

In the top of the fourth inning, Deer Creek Antlers Varsity tied things up at three when Cole Mungia doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Karson Lee pitched Deer Creek Antlers Varsity to victory. The righty lasted two and third innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out one.  A number of pitchers entered the game as relief, with Ashton Hartwig, Mungia, Nathan Burright, and Duncan Key all securing outs and ultimately the victory.

Jacob Nieuwenhuis took the loss for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. The right-hander went three innings, allowing two runs on one hit and walking one.

Dax Priddy went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Piedmont Varsity Wildcats in hits.

Deer Creek Antlers Varsity tallied nine hits on the day.  Ty Hammack and Zandt Payne all managed multiple hits for Deer Creek Antlers Varsity.
