Wildcats Too Much to Handle for Panthers

Both pitching staffs had their hands full on Saturday in a high-scoring affair where Piedmont Varsity Wildcats bested Putnam City North Panthers Varsity, 18-6.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats secured the victory thanks to 12 runs in the first inning.  Piedmont Varsity Wildcats’s offense in the inning came from singles by Trey Migl, Logan Hill, Jakeb Koop, Dax Priddy, and Migl, doubles by Cole Riggs and Koop, a sacrifice fly by Weston Thomas, and by Priddy.

In the first inning, Piedmont Varsity Wildcats got their offense started.  Priddy was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.

Cole Girard pitched Piedmont Varsity Wildcats to victory. Girard went four innings, allowing six runs on five hits and striking out six.  Jordan Askren threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Haydn Thornton took the loss for Putnam City North Panthers Varsity. Thornton allowed seven hits and 11 runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking zero.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats racked up 18 hits in the game.  Askren, Riggs, Migl, Thomas, Koop, and Carter Ashby each collected multiple hits for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.  Ashby, Koop, Thomas, Migl, Riggs, and Askren each managed two hits to lead Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.

Holden Bradford went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Putnam City North Panthers Varsity in hits.
