Cardiac Cats Advance to State Semis

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats took the lead late in the game in a 6-5 victory over McAlester Varsity Buffaloes on Thursday.  The game was tied at four with Piedmont Varsity Wildcats batting in the top of the sixth when Gabe Clyden tripled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

McAlester Varsity Buffaloes scored four runs in the fourth inning, but Piedmont Varsity Wildcats still managed to pull out the victory.  The big inning for McAlester Varsity Buffaloes came thanks to a walk by Seth Sam and a single by Lleyton Bass.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats fired up the offense in the first inning.  Dax Priddy grounded out, scoring one run.

Caleb Lunnon was the winning pitcher for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out ten.

Sam took the loss for McAlester Varsity Buffaloes. The pitcher lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out four.

Caden Lesnau started the game for McAlester Varsity Buffaloes. The righthander went two innings, allowing three runs on four hits.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats launched one home run on the day. Trey Migl went yard in the first inning.
Piedmont Varsity Wildcats racked up 12 hits on the day.  Noah Smith, Cole Riggs, Priddy, and Weston Thomas each had multiple hits for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.  Thomas, Priddy, Riggs, and Smith each managed two hits to lead Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.

McAlester Varsity Buffaloes collected seven hits on the day.  Ethan Gillespie and Gage Mullins each racked up multiple hits for McAlester Varsity Buffaloes.
