Cats Fall to Demons in State Championship

The Piedmont Varsity Wildcats struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Duncan Demons Varsity, giving up 15 runs.

Duncan Demons Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning, when Stewart singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Duncan Demons Varsity scored six runs in the sixth inning.  The big inning for Duncan Demons Varsity came thanks to singles by Eli Ramirez, Peyton Roberson, and Chago Barham.

Ramirez led the Duncan Demons Varsity to victory on the pitcher’s mound. The pitcher surrendered zero runs on two hits over three innings, striking out six and walking one.

Weston Thomas took the loss for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. The righty surrendered four runs on two hits over three and third innings, striking out four.

Blake Barnard started the game for Duncan Demons Varsity. Barnard lasted three innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out one Jordan Askren started the game for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. The pitcher lasted one-third of an inning, allowing two hits and four runs while striking out one
Dalton Hampton went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Piedmont Varsity Wildcats in hits.

Duncan Demons Varsity collected ten hits on the day.  Tully Booth, Preston Giles, and Stewart all collected multiple hits for Duncan Demons Varsity.
