Saturday’s game against Life Prep Varsity Fire was a heartbreaker for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats, as they lost the lead late in an 8-7 defeat.  The game was tied at seven with Life Prep Varsity Fire batting in the bottom of the fourth when Jacksenio De La Rosa singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats collected nine hits and Life Prep Varsity Fire had eight in the high-scoring affair.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats got on the board in the first inning.  Reid Smith doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Emmanuel Gonzalez toed the rubber for Life Prep Varsity Fire. The righty went three innings, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out four.

Noah Aller was on the hill for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. The lefthander lasted four innings, allowing eight hits and eight runs while striking out five.  Logan Hill threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Smith led Piedmont Varsity Wildcats with three hits in three at-bats.
