Piedmont Varsity Wildcats took the lead late and defeated Enid Varsity Plainsmen 9-5 on Tuesday. The game was tied at three with Piedmont Varsity Wildcats batting in the top of the fifth when Weston Thomas drew a walk, scoring one run.
Piedmont Varsity Wildcats got things started in the second inning. Trey Migl hit a solo homer.
Enid Varsity Plainsmen evened things up at three in the bottom of the fourth inning when Bennett Percival hit a solo homer.
Caleb Lunnon earned the victory on the mound for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. Lunnon went four and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out two. Fidel Hatch threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Hatch recorded the last seven outs to earn the save for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.
Jacob Kennedy took the loss for Enid Varsity Plainsmen. Kennedy allowed three hits and six runs over four innings, striking out seven.
Piedmont Varsity Wildcats launched one home run on the day. Migl had a four-bagger in the second inning.
Migl went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Piedmont Varsity Wildcats in hits.
Percival led Enid Varsity Plainsmen with two hits in three at-bats.
