Varsity Comes up BIG in 6th to Win

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats snagged a late lead and defeated Sapulpa Chieftains 11-6 on Friday.  The game was tied at six with Piedmont Varsity Wildcats batting in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored one run for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats collected six hits and Sapulpa Chieftains had eight in the high-scoring affair.
Sapulpa Chieftains fired up the offense in the first inning, when Alejandro Diaz singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

Sapulpa Chieftains scored three runs in the fifth inning.  The big inning for Sapulpa Chieftains came thanks to a walk by Diaz and a home run by Jack Blevins.

Ethan Nawaz was credited with the victory for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. The pitcher lasted two innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out one and walking one.  Jacob Nieuwenhuis threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Diaz took the loss for Sapulpa Chieftains. The righty went three innings, allowing nine runs on five hits and striking out two.

Cole Girard started the game for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. The righty surrendered three runs on five hits over four innings, striking out three Conner Burch started the game for Sapulpa Chieftains. The southpaw allowed one hit and two runs over three innings, striking out four.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats hit one home run on the day. Dax Priddy had a dinger in the fourth inning.
Piedmont Varsity Wildcats racked up six hits on the day.  Priddy and Gabe Clyden all managed multiple hits for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.  Clyden and Priddy each collected two hits to lead Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.  Piedmont Varsity Wildcats was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Jackson Harriger made the most plays with seven.

Sapulpa Chieftains totaled eight hits.  Kaiden Ashton and Diaz each had multiple hits for Sapulpa Chieftains.  Ashton went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Sapulpa Chieftains in hits.
